Woody Perennials for Cut Flowers
October 24 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm
While perennial plantings require a high up front investment, take a bit to get established, and require specialized care, they reward farmers with heaps of foliage and blooms. Join Laura Beth Resnick, the owner of Butterbee Farm, for a tour of the farm’s woody perennials and a discussion of how and why to grow these plants. Learn how she uses a variety of foliage, what types of foliage designers are looking for, and why it’s sometimes worth playing the long game on the farm. Bring a dish to share and continue the discussion over a Pot Luck style lunch with Laura Beth.
Butterbee Farm grows three acres of flowers in Pikesville, MD. Their foliage and blooms are found in local florists’ designs, in couples’ DIY-wedding arrangements, and on kitchen tables all around Maryland and D.C.
