Elements Eatery, Fair Farms Maryland, and the Maryland Farmers Market Association invite Southern Maryland's agriculture community to join us for networking and a learning session about two new opportunities for local farmers to increase their revenue:
The Food Donation Tax Credit
Southern Maryland farmers are now eligible to receive a state tax credit of up to $5,000 when donating produce to certified charitable organizations. Learn which food banks and other charities are participating in this program and what paperwork is required to participate. This program is only available to farmers in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Montgomery, Prince George’s, and St. Mary’s counties.
Maryland Market Money
Maryland Market Money is a statewide program run by the Maryland Farmers Market Association that doubles farmers market purchases made with federal food assistance (e.g. SNAP/food stamps), directly investing in farmers and low-income families. Currently, this program is at markets in six counties but we have the opportunity to expand it throughout the state.
